Jan 4th – Lakes Entrance – or Gee That’s Pretty, I Wish I’d Remembered the Camera

But I didn’t, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Though this is a pic of Phoebe in the sink in the van...

After a closely fought game of mini-golf, pies were purchased for lunch and off we went across the bridge to the main beach – or at least to the lake-side of the main beach which was very pretty, still as glass, with a sectioned off kids pool and a big grassy bank to plonk the sunshade on. Nick called me over to show me a prawn he had caught in the bucket but any visions I had of slapping a shrimp on the barbie for dinner were short-lived – what he caught was more like a potential prawn, assuming it made it past infancy... it was about the size of a grain of rice, but still likely to be the only fishing Nick does this trip!

Would love to tell you that we had a great time, and we did, intermittently, but the kids were pretty heinous – not all at once, but more in a take-it-in-turns share-the-pain kind of way so by the time we left we were all pretty frazzled... but we walked along the seafront to the fish market and bought fresh gummy shark and warehou for dinner (Warehou is, as I discovered, not ‘warehouse’ they couldn’t fit on the label, but wahr –ay-hoo – and it was delish barbecued with garlic...)

Had a couple of beers and another early night. Party on Wayne...
